Mimi Brasserie & Speakeasy at 1920 Hillview Street is one of Sarasota's more genuinely transportive dining experiences. Named after owner Mila's nickname and inspired by her former Montreal restaurant Mimi la nuit, the concept layers European neighborhood brasserie warmth over a 1920s speakeasy concept — and it works.
The dining room is the brasserie side: continental French-inspired food with coastal Florida ease. Step through the velvet curtain and you're in the hidden speakeasy, where the program leans into historical cocktails, port service, and caviar.
Chef Anthony leads the kitchen. Happy hour runs Monday through Saturday from 4–6pm, and complimentary valet is available Thursday through Saturday. This is a date-night spot that actually feels special — the kind of place that makes a Tuesday feel like an occasion.
